Bamboo flooring, made out of bamboo plants is an attractive choice but there are a few considerations that one needs to look at before going for this type of flooring option. There are broadly two types of bamboo flooring: Strand oven, which is gives a very natural look and traditional bamboo flooring, which can be either solid bamboo flooring or engineering bamboo flooring. Solid bamboo flooring is the eco friendly one here since engineered bamboo flooring is made up of compressed particle board.

Once you have decided the type of flooring, it is important to check whether the hardness. There are various industrial standard tests, Janka hardness being one of them. It is recommended to opt for bamboo flooring that has a Janka rating of less than 2300. Additionally, while going the eco-friendly way, ensure that the flooring has a LEEDS certification as well.

Bamboo flooring can be used for a variety of purposes, official, commercial or residential. One should enquire about the efficiency of the material with respect to its functionality so that it is suitable for home conditions, including climatic conditions, high traffic, etc. A last, but extremely important tip is to make sure that one gets a warranty.
